Board Of Supervisors Approve Huge Farmworkers Complex

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors is approving a large housing project for local farmworkers and their families.

The complex will cover half of a 36-acre site in the 2,700 block of Somis Road on unincorporated land near Camarillo. Board members say half of the site will be devoted to the project while the other half will be used for agricultural purposes. The Somis Ranch Farmworker Housing Complex will be the largest known project dedicated to farmworkers' living and working conditions. The project is due to break ground next year. The first residents could start living at the complex in 2023.
