A new report from the California State Auditor's office says seniors and disabled people who rely on the state's In-Home Support Services are not getting the quality of care they need.
The report cited a lack of available caregivers and low wages as part of the reason. According to the report, caregivers were paid at near or below the minimum wage, averaging $12.29/hr in 2019. Auditors also found 32 of 51 counties did not have enough caregivers to provide recipients with all the available services.
