San Francisco rents are down overall, but they're still the most expensive in the nation.
Zumper's March rent report finds that after a bit of fluctuation, SF rents remain stable at 25% below pre-Covid levels. The average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in The City is now $2,650. That's nearly $200 more than the average rent for a one-bedroom in New York City. Experts say that during the pandemic, many SF and Silicon Valley residents moved to more affordable cities like Livermore, Vallejo, and Sacramento.
