A man has been convicted of murder in a stabbing last year near the American River.
Steven Wilson allegedly found Lara Hoagland in distress on a bike trail in North Sacramento. According to prosecutors, Wilson wrapped Hoagland in his jacket and carried her off the trail. They say the two were under a railroad pass where he pulled out a knife, and stabbed Hoagland to death. After the arrest, officers found blood confirmed to be Hoagland's on the same jacket used in the attack. Wilson was convicted of first-degree murder yesterday, now facing 61 years to life in prison. He will be sentenced on April 9th.
