California In Early Stages Of Drought

California is facing a critically dry year due to below average snowpack in the Sierra mountains.

The state Department of Water Resources says water content from the snowpack is about half of what it should be for this time of year. Director Karla Nemeth says if California closes out its fifth consecutive dry month without any major storms, we're going to have to start preparing for a drought. The Sierra snowpack supplies roughly 30% of California's water supply.
