Six Counties Moving Out Of Most Restrictive Purple Tier

Several California counties are moving out of the state's most restrictive purple tier.

They include Alameda, Butte, Calaveras, Imperial, Santa Cruz and Solano counties. Mariposa and Plumas counties have been promoted to the orange tier, and Alpine County is moving to the least restrictive yellow tier. State health officials say once they administer 2 million COVID-vaccine doses in disadvantaged neighborhoods, they will raise the threshold between the purple and red tiers from an average of seven daily cases per 100,000 residents to 10 per 100,000.
