The Los Angeles Unified School District and its top teachers' union have reached a tentative deal to reopen campuses for in-person learning by mid-April. This woman has a daughter in elementary school and thinks the return is being rushed.
Through the deal, preschools, elementary schools and services for students with disabilities would reopen by mid-April, while secondary schools would reopen by the end of April. The terms allow for a hybrid blend of in-person and online learning, and establish several safety parameters for when teachers are working on campus. Families would also have the option of keeping their children at home full time. The agreement must be ratified by United Teachers Los Angeles members before it becomes official.
