Congress Probes Discrimination, Hate Crimes Against Asian Americans

Lawmakers are investigating discrimination and hate crimes against Asian Americans.

Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen opened a House hearing by calling for a moment of silence for victims of this week's deadly shootings in the Atlanta area. Six of the eight victims were Asian American women. Cohen said Asian Americans have been targets since the coronavirus pandemic came out of Wuhan, China. Now-former President Trump regularly referred to COVID as the "China virus" and the "kung-flu."

Texas Republican Chip Roy said all "bad guys" should be arrested and prosecuted for committing crimes. He also warned against "policing thought." Meantime, Roy roundly criticized China and said the country is run by "bad guys."
