The nation may soon be armed with another COVID vaccine.
AstraZeneca plans to file for FDA approval in just weeks after the company released results of an advanced trial today, showing its vaccine is 79% effective in preventing symptoms, and 100% effective against severe illness. The Phase 3 trial is showing considerable promise, with higher results in trials in Britain than last year. Some countries had stopped using the vaccine after reports of blood clots.
The results from the newest trial will be submitted to a scientific journal for peer review in the next few weeks.
