The unemployment rate in the Sacramento area is dropping according to the latest numbers from the state's Employment Development Department. They are reporting that jobless claims fell by four-tenths to 7.2% in February. Around 2,500 jobs were added to the leisure and hospitality sectors, while healthcare and social services saw an uptick of two-thousand jobs. The overall job growth numbers for the region came in over nine-thousand. But it's not all good news. EDD reports that over 95,000 state residents applied for unemployment insurance last week. Still, as the COVID vaccination rate increases, experts say the state will see more economic growth.
