The effort to recall Governor Newsom has taken a big step forward this morning as one-point-six million signatures have now been verified.
Newsom supporters have 30 business days to convince those who have signed the recall petition to remove their names. If that effort falls short, then there will be a recall election in the fall, most likely in October or November.
According to CNN, Newsom's approval ratings are still above 50% following his efforts to speed up COVID vaccination and distribution within the state. Anger towards Governor Newsom has largely been attributed to restrictions put in place to slow the spread of COVID throughout the year.
