Solano County's 2020 Markley Fire was deliberately set by an arsonist and 2 deaths from that blaze are now considered homicides. Those are the key findings of an 8 month long criminal investigation by the Solano County Sheriff's Office and Cal-Fire. Sheriff's detectives arrested Victor Serriteno and charged him today with murder and arson in connection with the deaths of 2 Vacaville residents. Investigators believe Serriteno ignited the Markley fire to conceal his crime. Serriteno is also facing a charge for the murder of a 3rd person and has been in custody for that crime since last September. The Markley Fire started August 18th, 2020 and merged with other fires as part of the LNU Complex Fire, which burned more than 363,000 acres in 5 counties, including Napa, Sonoma, Lake and Yolo, along with Solano.
