Poll: 80% Of Californians Think Their Children Are Falling Behind In School

A new poll this morning reveals more than 80% of Californians think their children are falling behind in school.

According to a poll from the Public Policy Institute of California, 53% say schools should be partially opened, and 28% say they should be fully opened. However, the poll showed a majority of Californians (57% approve of Governor Gavin Newsom's handling the state’s public schools, and almost 75% approved of how their local school district handled closures.)

These numbers follow California showing the lowest Covid case rate in the country, giving hope to school safety measures lifting sooner rather than later. Majority of parents surveyed were worried or hesitant to expect full re-openings by fall, with 60% adults surveyed saying they were “very” or “somewhat” concerned that K-12 schools would not fully reopen for in-person instruction.
