Crews are battling an ongoing fire at a public dump in Sacramento.
The three-alarm fire is burning through Florin Perkins public disposal site, which fire officials are worried may spread into adjacent grasslands. The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the fire shortly after 1 Sunday afternoon, just hours after a red flag fire warning was issued in the Sac region for high winds, low humidity and dry conditions. Department spokesman Captain Keith Wade says there is potential for a very large grass fire
A small vegetation fire also sprung up close to Discovery Park this morning, but has since been reported at 90% containment by the Sacramento Fire Department. .
