While the CDC says it is no longer necessary for people who are vaccinated to wear masks, this morning California public health officials are rejecting those guidelines.
California's mask guidelines will remain in place until June 15th, giving the state almost a month to increase vaccination rates and to lower virus levels. Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly gave an update on California's current mask rules:
Ghaly says counties and private businesses can still implement stricter mask guidelines than the state if they choose to do so - June 15 is also the target date for California's economy to fully reopen. The CDC has issued new guidelines that says people who are fully vaccinated do not need to wear masks anymore in most settings, and adopting federal mask guidance gives the state and businesses more time to verify whether everyone going out in public spaces mask-less are truly fully vaccinated.
