This morning administrators at Sierra College in Rockin have acknowledged their computer system has been hacked and hit with a severe ransomware attack.
Sierra College released a statement yesterday via spokesman Josh Morgan, confirming a number of online systems were attacked this week, impacting nearly 20,000 students. The Rocklin based school is working with law enforcement along with third-party cyber security and forensic experts to investigate and resolve the incident. This comes just two weeks after the East Coast Colonial Pipeline shutdown, and less than 9 months after a ransomware attack on Cache Creek Casino Resort.
According to CBS Sacramento, the college says they are now working with law enforcement and third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the attack and bring the systems back online.
