Johnson & Johnson Boss Says Vaccine Shots Will Be Needed For Years

The head of Johnson and Johnson says Americans should expect to get an annual COVID-19 vaccine shot for several years.

Alex Gorsky said the threat of highly-contagious variants will make it take longer to reach herd immunity on a global scale. He said most Americans can schedule the shot at the same time they get their annual flu shot. This comes as researchers are seeing a decline in antibody response against the coronavirus after eight months.

According to CNBC, as a result, most drugmakers and some scientists now say people will likely need a booster shot of the Covid vaccines and possibly additional shots each year, just like for the seasonal flu. The company is also reportedly looking for new partners.
