Cooling Centers Opening With Excessive Heat On It's Way To The Region

With excessive heat setting in this week, local cooling centers are opening to offer people a way to get out of the dangerous conditions. The Cities of Sacramento and Elk Grove will open three locations starting Wednesday afternoon. In Sacramento they are at the Hagginwood Community Center on Marysville Boulevard and the Hart Senior Center on 27th street. Elk Grove and Cosumnes Community Services District will open a cooling center at the Wackford Community Complex on Bruceville road. All three will be open from noon until 8pm Wednesday through Friday. Masks are required and will be provided for those who don't have one.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY

Sacramento - open Wednesday through Saturday starting at noon until 8pm

  • Hagginwood Community Center (3271 Marysville Blvd)
  • Hart Senior Center (915 27th St.)

Elk Grove - open Thursday and Friday June 17th and 18th

  • Wackford Community Complex (9014 Bruceville Road)

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY

Lodi - open

  • Salvation Army (622 N. Sacramento Street)

Manteca - open 24 hours, 7 days a week

  • Homeless Emergency Center (555 Industrial Park) always open

Tracy - open Monday – Friday 8am to 7pm and Saturday 10am to 6pm

  • Tracy Transit Station (50 E. Sixth Street)

Stockton - hours of operation varies per location

  • THE SPOT Youth Respite And Women’s Center (729 N. California Street) open everyday from 8:30am until 5pm
  • Gospel Center Rescue Mission (445 S. San Joaquin Street) open daily from 8am until 8pm
  • Stockton Drop In Shelter MEN ONLY (411 S. Harrison Entrance) open daily from 7am until 3:30pm
