This is the first official celebration of Juneteenth as a federal holiday although communities across California have been celebrating the cultural holiday for years. If you are interested in joining in on the celebration, here is a list of events happening in the area for the holiday.
SACRAMENTO'S 18TH ANNUAL JUNETEENTH FESTIVAL
- Location: William Land Park (3800 W Land Park Dr, Sacramento)
- Time: Saturday and Sunday 11AM - 6pm
- Free event with over 20 vendors, food and entertainment activities. A parade will feature American history-themed floats, marching bands and more. There will also be a talent show, poetry and theater performances and other activities.
BREWTEENTH BEER FESTIVAL
- Location: Oak Park Brewing Co. (3514 Broadway, Sacramento)
- Time: Saturday 12PM - 6PM
- The festival celebrates four-black owned breweries in the area. They are collaborating in brewing a Brewteenth beer for the event. There will be live music DJ DYOPS, Hayez, Erica Ambrin and Sacto Storytellers.
ST. HOPE JUNETEETH BLOCK PARTY
- Location: Intersection of 35th Street and Broadway (40 Acres Complex in the Oak Park Neighborhood)
- Time: Saturday 10AM - 5PM
- DJ Supe and Emcee Dru Burks host the event with live music, black artists and vendors.
ALGORYTHM JUNETEENTH JUKE JAM
- Location: Esther's Park (3408 3rd Ave., Sacramento)
- Time: Saturday 6PM - 10PM for ages 21+
- Tickets required which can be purchased here
- The event focuses on music, tech and culture with founders, artists and creatives from all fields with the goal of providing exposure and fostering relationships and collaboration.
DOCO AL FRESCO STREET FAIR
- Location: Golden 1 Center Outdoor Dining (405 K Street, Sacramento)
- Time: Saturday 2PM - 10PM
- Live music from AYE TEE, Hayez and DJ Abs 1er along with local art.
STOCKTON'S JUNETEENTH 2021
- Location: Weber Point Park (221 N Center St, Stockton)
- Time: Saturday 10AM - 6PM
- Features food, vendors, kid’s corner, art and music, as well a Healing Tent sponsored by the People’s Empowerment Center
AFRICAN MARKET PLACE EVENT
- Location: African Market Place (2251 Florin Road, Sacramento)
- Time: Saturday 1PM - 4PM
- Event includes food, art, and cultural exhibitions. Event kicks off with a drumline and dancing.
RANCHO CORDOVA JUNETEENTH FREEDOM CELEBRATION
- Location: American River Parkway in Rancho Cordova (2300 Rod Beudry Road, Sacramento)
- Time: Saturday 11:30AM - 3:30PM

JUNETEENTH SUMMER BACK IN ELK GROVE
- Location: Elk Grove (3035 Maritime Drive, Elk Grove)
- Time: Saturday 11AM - 6PM
- Expect food, music, basketball and other activities during a picnic-style event.

- Event includes music, dancing, food and family activities.
MODESTO'S ANNUAL JUNETEENTH FESTIVAL
- Location: MLK Jr. Park (601 N. Martin Luther King Dr., Modesto)
- Time: Saturday 11AM - 5PM
- Free event sponsored by NAACP Modesto Stanislaus with food, vendors and live music.
PLACER COUNTY JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION AND PICNIC
- Location: Johnson-Springview Park (5480 5th St., Rocklin)
