Rocklin Assemblyman Kevin Kiley Joins Joins Newsom Recall Election

Republican Assemblyman Kevin Kiley of Rocklin is running to replace Gavin Newsom as governor in the upcoming recall election.

He'll be running against fellow Republicans Kevin Faulconer, the former mayor of San Diego and businessman John Cox who was soundly defeated by Newsom in the 2018 election for governor. Kiley, 36, is an attorney and former teacher from the Sacramento area who graduated from Harvard and Yale Law School. He was first elected to the Assembly in 2016 and has been an outspoken critic of Newsom's COVID-19 pandemic response. In an interview with KCRA 3, he said he wants to return the power of the state to the people and communities.

Other Republicans include former Sacramento area Congressman Doug Ose and celebrity candidate Caitlyn Jenner. Kiley will hold his official kickoff rally this Saturday at the State Capitol.
