Wildfire Sparks Around Colfax, Evacuations Ordered In Placer And Nevada Co.

A very quick moving wildfire is spreading between the Placer and Nevada County lines, around the Bear River Campground West of Colfax. The so-called River Fire is forcing evacuation orders in Placer and Nevada Counties Wednesday afternoon. The Placer County Sheriff's Department says flames are threatening areas east of Dog Bar Road and evacuation orders are in place in an area that starts at the Bear River Campground and extends to both sides of Milk Ranch Road to Tokayana Way. Nevada County Sheriff’s Office has active evacuation warnings for all residents East of Dog Bar Road, South of Mount Olive Road and West of Mountain Lion Road. Caltrans says traffic in the area of Highway 174 at Orchard Springs Road is being turned around. A temporary evacuation point is opening at Bear River High School: 11130 Magnolia Rd. Grass Valley.
