Sacramento Announces Vaccines Required For All City Council Employees

Sacramento city council officials announced today that all city council employees will be required to get vaccinated.

he mandate for city council employees applies to employees under the council's purview, as well as charter officers, according to a news release from councilmember Mai Vang. At a news conference, city leaders said there was an urgent need to expand the vaccine requirement to Sacramento's 5,000-plus city employees. Currently, the city's labor relations team is in negotiations with labor organizations that represent police, fire and non-public safety workers, according to KCRA.

City council employees who are not yet vaccinated will be required to upload proof of their first COVID-19 vaccine dose by Sept. 1. There will be limited exceptions for medical and religious exemptions.
