Washington Fire In Tuolumne Co. Prompts Evacuations In Sonora And Jamestown

A vegetation fire burning in Tuolumne County is prompting evacuations around the city of Sonora and Jamestown. Evacuations were ordered Thursday afternoon for Golf Links Road, McKibben Drive, Alley Drive, Circle Drive, and Golden Dove Lane. The Tuolumne County Sheriff reports the fire started in the area around Highway 108 and Golf Links Road in Jamestown. Conditions are dry and windy and the vegetation fire is fast moving. Parts of the city of Sonora are being evacuated: West Stockton Road to South Washington Street, including all roads in between and all downtown hotels. Cal Fire reports the fire is already at 50 acres with 0% containment.
