Apple Hill was spared from the destructive Caldor Fire and will be open this holiday weekend to kick off their fall season of food, festivals, wine, and family fun. Apple Hill posted on Facebook thanking fire crews who were able to hold the fire line well to the south of the popular farms. Apple Hill growers are known for their farm stands, bake shops and other fall festivities. Fall remains one of the busiest times of year for the popular "hill" in El Dorado County. Favorable wind conditions also helped to spare the farms and wineries from destruction. Smoke taint for the grapes remains a concern but local wineries are working to assess the condition of their grapes.
