The first snow of the fall season is covering the highest elevations of the Sierra, as a cold and moist front moves through the region. Ski operators say they received at least an inch of fresh powder at Sugar Bowl Resort earlier this morning. UC Berkeley's Central Sierra Snow Lab is reporting nearly two-inches of snowfall overnight in Soda Springs. In the lower levels, rain gauges in Donner Lake show over a half-inch of precipitation. More rain and snow showers are possible later tonight into Saturday morning.
