Former SEIU California Executive Director Alma Hernández and her husband, Jose Moscoso, are facing 13 felonies after allegedly transferring money from a political action committee to her husband in 2014.
Additionally, Hernández and Moscoso reportedly dodged $143,000 in taxes between 2014 and 2018. Hernandez and Moscoso’s alleged pattern of felony conduct resulted in a loss by the franchise tax board of more than $100,000, subjecting them to additional punishment. SEIU announced that Hernandez resigned from her position on Wednesday. SEIU California issued a statement reading: “We are calling for a full review of ethical standards, procedures, and systems to determine how this break in trust could have occurred…So this is a person who has the capacity in that job, to help shape political outcomes for all Californians, not just their members,” Swaim said.”
Allegations of a broken public trust have led to this labor leader losing her job and facing the possibility of jail time, according to CBS Sacramento. Hernandez and her husband are set to appear in court for the first time on Friday.
