Over the weekend, the tree that was selected to serve as the U.S. Capitol's Christmas Tree was harvested from Northern California. The 84-foot-tall white fir, nicknamed Sugar Bear, was from the Six Rivers National Forest, specifically the the Mad River Range District, most recently impacted by the 2020 August Complex Fire, the largest recorded fire in California history. The tree has been cut and loaded thanks to the Forest Service and PG&E crews. But before it ends up in Washington D.C., it will make several stops across the state and nation. The massive tree will make an appearance at the May Fair in Dixon and on November 2nd from 3 to 6pm. Followed by a stop at the the State Capitol on November 3rd between 10am to noon. After a few more stops in California, the tree will also make stops in Arizona, New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri, and Maryland. It's due to arrive on the West Lawn of the US Capitol Building on November 19th.
