Enough damage was done in the Caldor Fire to South Lake Tahoe ski resort Sierra-at-Tahoe that officials are now saying that an opening date before the end of the year is unlikely. The resort took to social media on Tuesday to say their sights are set on an early 2022 reopening date for the resort. The resort also says they are happy to celebrate the reopening of neighboring resorts but that they are not at the place to reopen yet. Details as to what exactly was damaged in the fire in order to prevent the reopening has not been announced. The Caldor fire started back in mid-August and burned over 221,000 acres heavily impacting the area east of Sacramento into the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
