Stockton Cold Case Getting Revisited Using DNA Technology

40 years ago, then 16-year old Jose "Che" Dominguez of Stockton disappeared after leaving his home on August 2nd, never to be seen again. But this week, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is announcing the discovery of human remains that may be the missing teen from 1981, reopening his investigation. They plan to use DNA technology to ID the remains, technology that was not available at the time of his disappearance.

Sheriff Patrick Withrow says skeletal remains were found in the eastern part of the county while investigators were actively looking into this cold case. The DNA testing process can take several weeks to come back. One person was charged as a suspect but those charges were dropped in 1989 due to a witness statement. The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward along with the $10,000 reward from the Stockton Crime Stoppers for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.
