PG&E Customers Still Waiting For Power To Come Back On Across Region

Many PG&E customers are still waiting for their lights to be turned back on after last week's storm knocked out electricity across the region.

For some customers, the utility estimates it may be another week before power is restored. The snow has hindered crews from reaching some areas, which adds to the delay in restoration of electricity. Company officials say help from other utilities along the West Coast should be arriving today and will be stationed along the Sierra. Almost 33,000 customers remain without power.

“The time in which PG&E expects to turn power back on or when we estimate to turn the lights back on varies depending on location and access,” says PG&E spokesperson Deanna Contreras. “In some areas, we are able to fly with a helicopter or we can even bring in our bucket trucks but in other areas, we have to bring in snow cads, and in some other rural areas, we are having to walk in there with snowshoes.”
