19-Year Old Woodland Driver Found In Crashed Car Along I-80 Early Tuesday

An early morning 9-1-1 call reporting a crashed car on the on ramp of I-80 at El Camino Avenue has lead to the discovery of a deceased 19-year old female from Woodland inside the vehicle. Authorities have not released her name and still have not located any witnesses to the crash. California Highway Patrol investigators say a call came in around 5:18 Tuesday morning of a witness who spotted a crashed car in the embankment of the on ramp. Heavy police presence during Tuesday morning's commute traffic and closure of the on ramp caused slowing on the westbound side of the highway as crews investigated the scene. Crews were able to remove the car from the embankment early that morning.

Investigators still do not know when the initial crash occurred. CHP believes her Chrysler 300 sedan crossed the lanes of traffic and drove off the road, hitting a tree before falling into the embankment. CHP investigators are looking into how long the car was in the embankment and when it got there. Officials believe the driver was going "freeway speeds" and did not crash going along the on ramp, but instead crossed through the lanes of I-80 and crashed at high speeds.
