The California Highway Patrol has over 140 new officers this week as the cadets complete graduation from academy. Following a 27-week training program, 142 new officers are being sworn in and getting their badges. The cadets, family members and friends gathered in support for the swearing in ceremony. Cadet training covers policing, ethics, mental illness response, crisis intervention, vehicle patrol, accident investigation, first aid, and the apprehension of drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Upon graduation, this class of officers will be reporting for duty to one of the 103 CHP Area offices throughout the state.
