A bridge in Sacramento is being named after a fallen police officer and alumna of Sacramento State. The American River H Street bridge was renamed Sunday to the Tara O'Sullivan during a ceremony and is located next to the campus. O'Sullivan died while she was on the scene of a domestic violence call in 2019. Signage for the bridge went up on Saturday afternoon with the dedication ceremony the following morning. Speakers at the ceremony included former Sacramento Police Chief Daniel Hahn, Tara's parents, Pastor Anthony Sadler from Shiloh Baptist Church, Sacramento Council member Jeff Harris, current SPD Chief Kathy Lester, and Sacramento State University President Robert Nelson. O'Sullivan started her career with the Sacramento police Department in January 2018.
