This morning there's a new name in the race for Governor in California.

Bay Area based-author, journalist, and environmental activist Michael Shellenberger has announced he's running for Governor. Shellenberger made the announcement on Fox 40:

This is not his first run -- Shellenberger ran for office in 2018 but came in 9th in the primary against Newsom. According to his interview with Fox 40, Shellenberger said he will run with no party preference because he “genuinely” doesn’t have one.“In fact, I’m pretty fed up with the parties,” he told Inside California Politics. “I love this state, I see it from all points of view, and I really think I can bring it together."

Fox 40 also reports that former San Diego mayor Kevin Faulconer will not run. Republican state senator Brian Dahle is also running for Governor. In September of last year, Governor Newsom received overwhelming support from voters in the recall election, and currently has $25 million in campaign funds.
