Gov. Newsom Orders More Vaccines While Rolling Back More Covid Restrictions

Governor Newsom is ordering more COVID vaccines after health experts say children as young as six months are safe to vaccinate. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were approved by a review board yesterday as safe and effective for children as young as six months old. Experts say reactions among infants from six-to-12 months and children one-to-five years were consistent with reactions to other recommended vaccines. Newsom says nearly 400-thousand doses have been preordered and will be given to more than 8,500 sites throughout the state. Meanwhile, the Governor is also continuing to roll back COVID-19 Executive Orders. Five workplace safety provisions ended late last week with 15 more set to expire at the end of the month. Newsom says important measures are still in place including COVID testing, vaccinations, and boosters along with protections on hospital capacity and infant formula price gouging. About five percent of the COVID-19 related executive orders will be in place once next month begins.
