Suspect Slips Out Of Handcuffs At SMF, Yet To Be Recaptured

A suspect is still at large after slipping out of handcuffs and evading deputies at the Sacramento International Airport Sunday. The Sacramento Sheriff's Department says the suspect was being detained for allegedly trying to board a commercial flight at SMF with drugs in his checked baggage. Shortly after that around 1:45 Sunday afternoon, the suspect slipped off the cuffs and fled while being escorted to the patrol vehicle outside of the terminal. The Sheriff's office is not releasing the identity of the man, but they say they know who he is and they are continuing to track down the suspect. The man is likely to face additional charges if he is apprehended. The Sheriff's office has set up a perimeter at the airport and has assigned additional deputies to the area.
