A record number of people went to the California State Fair and Food Festival this year. Festival organizers say the over two-week fair saw nearly 653,000 people attend, which is about 9% more than in 2019, the last time the festival took place. It was cancelled the last two years because due to the coronavirus pandemic. Thousands of people went to the 17-day event to enjoy concerts, rides, and food.
Cal Expo General Manager and CEO Rick Pickering praised the success in a press release: “After two years of not having a fair because of the pandemic, our staff worked tirelessly to deliver a quality event for everyone. We are thrilled that so many families came out to the fair for such a successful, fun, and safe event. Our food and ride partners have told us that this year’s fair was by far their most successful ever and we could not be happier for them.” Pickering says they are already working on planning another successful fair for 2023.
