Nevada Co Sheriff: Kiely Rodni Death Ruled Accident, No Foul Play Suspected

The Nevada County Sheriff's office says 16-year-old Kiely Rodni died as a result of drowning after her vehicle crashed into a lake which was the site of a large party. The Truckee teen was the subject of a massive 2-week search before her car was found submerged in the Prosser Creek Reservoir. The YouTube search team Adventures With Purpose is credited with finding the submerged vehicle on August 21st based on tips from those attending the party. The SacBee reports her Silver Honda CR-V was found upside down in 14 feet of water with a body inside. The diving group was using sonar boats for about 35 minutes when they located the vehicle 55 feet offshore and less than a quarter-mile south of the campground. Investigators say there was no indication of foul play and no toxicology results were made public. Authorities did not give any details about how the vehicle ended up in the water. Rodni had been missing since the early hours of August 6th after attending a party with hundreds of peers around the same age.
