ESPN is under fire after the network yanked an announcer from calling an upcoming college football game in Charlottesville, Virginia. ESPN announcer Robert Lee, who is Asian-American, was originally scheduled to announce the University of Virginia's first football game. The network said Lee was reassigned because shares the same name as Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
The network is now facing criticism for its decision from both sides of the political aisle. Democratic Congressman Rick Larson of Washington tweeted today, "If this isn't the same Lee that led the Confederate Army, ESPN needs to reverse this idiocy."
