Milk House Shakes in Old Sacramento offers milk shakes titled and themed in honor of past presidents incorporating the owner's love of history. The Jimmy Carter features peanuts butter, the Ronald Reagan Special this month with jelly beans, etc... They also have a full espresso bar.

The winner of the 2017 Calling All Dreamers competition presented by the Downtown Sacramento Foundation (DSF) officially opened a deliciously fun Milk House Shakes storefront on the Old Sacramento Waterfront on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Centrally located in the heart of the historic district, the 400-square foot storefront will offer a variety of milk shakes with titles and flavors themed after past presidents.
“It is very fitting that my dream of opening Milk House Shakes will be realized on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, especially given he’s my favorite past-president,” said owner and self-proclaimed ‘first lady of milk shakes’ Kelly Boyles. “Milk House Shakes is truly a labor of love for me that wouldn’t have been possible without the unique Calling All Dreamers program and the amazing support provided by the Downtown Sacramento along with close friends and family. I look forward to welcoming the community to my new shop that combines my fascination with history with my love for milk shakes.”
Upon opening, Milk House Shakes will offer six milk shakes (plus a build-your-own option) along with a variety of coffee drinks and sweet cream cold brew. Ultimately, Boyles plans to increase the number of shakes to include one for every past president (President Trump will have to wait as shakes will not be created for any sitting president).
Each year,Calling All Dreamers contestants compete for a coveted business start-up package that is designed to provide the winner with essential resources and helpful tools needed to successfully launch a downtown storefront. In addition, DSF helps the winning entrepreneur navigate a variety of challenges faced by many business owners during their first year in business.
Some of the contestants of the annual Calling All Dreamers competition include the following:Allspicery, Andy’s Candy Apothecary, Sun & Soil, Oblivion Comics & Coffee, Off the Chain Bike Bus Tours, Benjamin’s Shoes, Whired Wine, and more. TheShark Tank-style competition takes qualified applicants through a business development program that calls for extensive business planning, market research, proof of financial sustainability, and more.
