Sac Ballet's Innovative Program "Mozart in Motion" feat Carrie Hennessey

Listen: Sac Ballet Artistic Director Amy Seiwert and Soprano Carrie Hennessy talk about the innovative program The Sacramento Ballet is presenting Oct 3-6 at The Sofia.

*****************************

Mozart’s melodies have captured choreographic imaginations for centuries.

Sacramento native Jodie Gates stages her neo-classical Embellish, described by The New York Times as “fluent and theatrically savvy.” Gates is Vice Dean and Director of USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, and former artist with the Joffrey and Frankfurt Ballets. We pair this with Seiwert’s interpretation of Richard Maunder’s edition of Mozart’s famously unfinished Requiem. The San Francisco Chronicle praised “…the sheer expansiveness of (Seiwert’s) vision … an intensely focused work.” An added bonus is a joyful world premiere by Princess Grace Choreography Fellowship Award winner Darrell Grand Moultrie (who has choreographed for performers as diverse as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Beyonce), accompanied by Soprano Carrie Hennessy, flautist Cathie Apple and pianist Jennifer Reason. This will be the third world premiere audience-favorite Moultrie has choreographed on Sacramento Ballet.
