Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 4:00 p.m., the 30thAnnual Sister City delegation from Toride City, Japan will arrive at Yuba City City Hall for Welcoming Ceremonies. Yuba City and Toride City became Sister Cities in the fall of 1989 to promote the ties of friendship and mutual understanding. Toride is an agricultural community located between two rivers and small mountain range in the Ibaraki Prefecture, which is one hour north of Tokyo.
Twenty students and six adults make up the delegation. The students range in age from 13 to 16 and will stay with local host families during their visit. On Monday the students will attend school with their hosts. The delegation also includes the Toride Sister City Association President, Yukio Takegasa, along with the Toride City Mayor Shingo Fujii and representatives from the Toride City Board of Education and City Hall. Planned activities include visits to city facilities, CHP academy, Shoei Foods, Sutter County Museum, a tour of Yuba City, and trips to Sacramento and San Francisco.
