According to the Census Bureau’s 2016 Annual Survey of Entrepreneurs, there were more than 1.1 million women-owned businesses in the 50 largest metro areas in 2016, up 2.8% from the year prior. Yet female entrepreneurs remain a minority, owning just 20% of all businesses nationwide.
To determine the best places for women entrepreneurs, SmartAsset considered eight factors that may influence a woman’s success in starting a new business.
