The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, named after a fallen 9/11 firefighter, announced this morning that the mortgage on the home of El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Ishmael has been paid in full.

The announcement comes less than six weeks after the Foundation first promised to pay off the family’s mortgage, during an October 26thpress conferenceat the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office in Placerville.

Deputy Ishmael37, was fatally shot on October 23rdwhile responding to a call reporting a larceny in rural Somerset. Hewas a four-year veteran of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, and had previously served with the Placerville Police Department.

He left behind his wife, Katie, and their three children, Prudence, Zoe, and Cash.

This is the second home in the Foundation’s Season of Hope, during which it will give away a home every day from now until Christmas Eve.

“Every day, first responders like Deputy Ishmael put their lives on the line. We need to take care of those who take care of us, and we need to take care of their families when they don’t come home,” said Foundation Chairman and CEO Frank Siller. “In paying off the Ishmael family’s mortgage, my hope is that we can provide them with some security and peace of mind ahead of the holidays.”

Since 2015, the Foundation's Fallen First Responder Home Program has been ensuring first responder families with young children have been able to stay in their homes.
