Listen: Megan Huber is the Economic Development and Communications Manager with the City of Citrus Heights
WHAT:The City of Citrus Heights is creating a Specific Plan for Sunrise Mall to define a vision for future redevelopment of the site. The project is called "Sunrise Tomorrow: Reimagine the Heart of Citrus Heights."
As part of this process, the City is hosting an interactive, in-person community workshop to gather ideas to help transform Sunrise Mall into a thriving center of community life. Guests will briefly learn about recent market analysis and the Specific Plan process, then be broken into groups to imagine what goes into great public spaces, make a 2D model with the help of facilitators, and share their future site visions.
WHY: Community feedback is a vital part of the City’s Specific Plan, which establishes the overall framework for development of the site. Specific Plans specify what land uses are permitted, the intensity of development, and what structures will look like. Our goal is to provide a plan that will transform the 100-acre Sunrise Mall property into a premier regional destination and a flourishing center of community life where residents and visitors, shop, work, live, and play.
VISUAL:A brief presentation on market analysis for the Sunrise Mall location, then community members will break into groups around tables and create an actual plan for the site, using inspiration images, activity stickers, markers, and post-its on a 3’x6’ design board. Event is hosted in the vacant Sears location, which is poignant, given the need for revitalization.
WHEN: Tuesday, February 11 from 5 to 7:00 p.m.
WHERE: The former Sears location at the Sunrise Mall:5900 Sunrise Blvd.,Citrus Heights, CA 95610
