On March 5, the San Juan Unified School District and Del Campo High School will break ground on a two-part signature project that includes a brand new science complex with media commons and a full renovation to the school’s career and technical education (CTE) spaces.

The science complex will be built on the front of campus to bring next-generation classrooms and library space. Classrooms will be tailored for chemistry, physics, biology, AP environmental science, and general science.

The second part of the project is a renovation of the school’s CTE building on the back side of campus, and will enhance student opportunities in the Fire Safety Academy, Computer Technology and Media Broadcasting courses as well as a new Fabrication Lab. The building will have a storage bay for the program’s fire engine, ambulance and burn car, outdoor training grounds, and a modern broadcast studio with outdoor green wall and an innovation gallery where the different pathways can work in a collaborative space.

The science complex is scheduled for an August 2021 completion, and the CTE building will be finished in August 2020.
