Sac Ballet's Digital Day of Dance on May 7 for The Big Day of Giving

Sacramento Ballet, one of the finest regional ballet companies in the country, announces today its Digital Day of Dance, in conjunction with Big Day of Giving. The Digital Day of Dance takes place from 9 am to 9 pm, through various social channels, on Thursday, May 7. Featuring different engagement opportunities on the hour, the programming will offer opportunities for people of all ages, from children to seniors.

In addition to the Company’s Digital Day of Dance, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation awarded Sacramento Ballet a $5,000 matching grant (for Covid-19 disaster response) as a challenge for Big Day of Giving. With this new grant, the Company has a total of $15,000 in matching funds.

“Big Day of Giving has always been an important fundraiser for Sacramento Ballet,” said Amy Seiwert, Artistic Director of Sacramento Ballet. “However, this year’s fundraiser has taken on unprecedented significance as a result of Covid-19. Today we launch ourFuture Forward Campaign. Looking forward to returning to our studios and dancing with you. Forward to returning to our community for enriching engagement with public schools, families, seniors and more. Forward to the future of Sacramento with a rich, vibrant, and local arts scene. We hope our local community will join us on this adventure.”

Highlights for Sacramento Ballet’s Digital Day of Dance include: Morning Stretch with Artistic Director Amy Seiwert, Fall Prevention for Seniors, Conditioning Class, Company class, Creative Movement Pop-up (Children’s Ballerina Book Club, movement and craft), Q&A with Sacramento Ballet dancer Isabella Velasquez, and Cooking with dancer Frances Chae.
