Free green waste drop-off event June 13 in eastern Placer County

Continuing wildfire preparedness efforts, Placer County partners are hosting a free green waste drop-off event on June 13 at four eastern Placer locations.

Who:Placer County, Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal, North Tahoe Fire District, North Tahoe Public Utility District, Squaw Valley Community District, Tahoe City Public Utility District and Homewood Mountain Ski Resort

When:June 13, 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Where:1) Tahoe City: 925 Country Club Drive, Tahoe City, CA 96145

2) Homewood, 5145 W Lake Blvd., Homewood, CA 96141

3) Tahoe Vista: 875 National Ave., Tahoe Vista, CA 96148

4) Squaw Valley, 305 Squaw Valley Rd, Olympic Valley, CA 96146

Participants are encouraged to secure a tarp over and under their load. Each vehicle may bring 3 cubic yards (1 yard = six bags) of green waste per trip. Participants must empty their own load and bring identification and proof of Placer County residency. The event will not accept dirt, sod or rocks, food, pet or construction waste.

The green waste program continues the county’s mission to help residents with fuel reduction projects and defensible space around their homes. As families shelter in place due to the stay-at-home order, community members are taking advantage of the extra time around the house to catch up on special projects like defensible space implementation and home hardening activities.

Green waste disposal events provide a valuable, free service in this economically uncertain time. Learn more about the event here.
