Midtown Gets Musical with Summer Street Performer
Pop-Up Series on Friday & Saturday Evenings through August
Expanding the “I Love How Midtown Bands Together” pilot concept that happened in late March, the Midtown Association has coordinated a fun and upbeat way to entertain guests – safely and at a distance – as they are enjoying the district on Friday and Saturday evenings now through the end of August. A talented and diverse group of local musicians will perform live music in key locations to showcase the resiliency of the thriving district. Some of the musicians and locations may change as the program rotates throughout Midtown over the course of the next 11 weeks. The low touch but high energy “Midtown Bands Together Summer Pop-Up Series” program is designed to add an air of excitement to the area as restaurants are retailers are carefully reopening to welcome guests in small groups.
While it will not be in place for this opening week, the “Summer Pop-Up Series” program will also include occasional but beautiful chalk art activations that pop up on sidewalks in key locations on some Friday and Saturday evenings to surprise and delight guests strolling the area.
Friday & Saturday Evenings from 6 to 8 p.m., June 19 & 20 through August 28 & 29, 2020*
*Note: live music will take place on Thursday & Friday, July 2 & 3 rather than on July 4
The music happens concurrently at four Midtown locations on June 19 & 20:
- Alhambra Blvd. & J Street (in front of Limelight): Jig Monkeys (Irish, Americana & lively originals)
- 28th & N Streets: Jayna Feldman (singer/guitarist)
- 20th & K Streets: Carl Salmonsen (solo acoustics)
- 19th & Q Streets (BARK PARK): Steven Anderson (singer/guitarist)
