Hey Sacramento, Visit Sac Pres & CEO Mike Testa Says Consider a Staycation

Mike Testa Interview

Listen to the iHeartMedia interview with Visit Sacramento President and CEO Mike Testa.

Today, Visit Sacramento is launching a new campaign that invites locals to “travel in place,” with a restorative getaway at a Sacramento hotel. Or for those of us who are tired of working from the kitchen table, a few days of Zoom calls overlooking a hotel pool could be in order. And while there, we’re encouraging these staycationers to support local businesses – safely – by doing things like ordering takeout or enjoying an al fresco meal at one of our restaurants.

Sacramento’s hotel community, along with our restaurants and other local businesses, has spent the last four months developing and adhering to stringent health and safety guidelines. So, while it’s not the time for us to invite visitors from across the country…locals have a great opportunity to take full advantage of what’s available in their own backyard.

However, there are some rules. Sacramento County health officials have made it clear that if you’re a local heading out on a staycation, and you’re planning on bringing friends or family along, then you should stick only to the people from your household to keep things safe. And of course, you should wear a mask in public and practice social distancing when you’re out and about.

Let’s cover that one more time: wear a mask, social distance, stay sheltered with the people you’ve been sheltering with, and play a valuable role in helping to keep these critical Sacramento businesses alive.
